Carol Ann Duffy - In Mrs. Emma's Class

In Mrs. Emma's Class You could hear the radically soothing sound  of a Scottish dialect slithering, oscillating. As she joyfully hopped across from child to child. The squeaking sounds of children, laughing, pondering, waiting  for the next stimulating question to... "Peekaboo!" "It's Break Time", she signals. Despondent emotions surged through my body  as I slowly walked out, torn. This, this, was better than home.  You waited for 7:00 am urgently;  The cranky voice of my mother waking me up. You felt exhilarated, elated, yet, that soon faded.  Inner Demons? For what may they be? You felt interminably torn in all directions. Pulled. Instead of solving for gravity.  Gravity began solving you.  Time felt dilated One month, two months, 4 months, 8. Exasperated, you were, by her superfluous tone. Enraged by the months. No, years; That had crawled in the shadows. The profound and monot...

Consolidating My Topic Choice

The Written Assignment is due in exactly 1 month and 2 days from today (May 11th, 2019). I have been brainstorming several topics which I wanted to focus on. Mainly the use of foil characters which I have narrowed down to Dr. Rank and Mrs. Linde. Honestly, I feel that I would be able to do it with Mrs. Linde as I can contrast her with Nora. This is then juxtaposed with Torvald and how he is concerned about others' opinions of him. They are further contrasted with the treatment of their wives. Torvald patronizes his wife whereas Dr. Rank is kind and nurturing (Ibsen uses him to criticize society's general treat...

However, with every blessing comes a curse (kind of) and we have to complete the written assignment now which is I believe around a 1500 world literary exploration of a piece we studied (so either Marquez's Chronicle of A Death Foretold or Ibsen's A Doll's House). That brings me on to my next point which is the choice of doing either Chronicle of A Death Foretold or A Doll's House. I am leaning towards A Doll's House however, I am keeping my options open. I will be making a brainstorm of ideas regarding the different topic which I can explore with respects to the prompt which I have chosen for each of the respective texts. I feel as I have a better understanding of A Doll's House and can interpret its literary features more effectively therefore, I fee...
